| Useful Resources | As you must have guessed by now, this is the only
part which is a little difficult if you are not comfortable with HTML or coding.
Though it seems difficult, it is not actually. There are lots of free tools out there that can help you do this. So, to start with this, you need a tool like Frontpage that is included with Windows XP by default now a days.
Or if you wish, you can download Dreamweaver also, though it is not free, or make a search at Google and you can find lots of free tools. A few basic, free and simple to use HTML editor are given below:
Nvu (Free - Recommended): This is an open source free HTML editor with almost identical features of Dreamweaver. It is easy to use for both novice and advanced users. PageBreeze (Free): Its an absolutely free HTML editor. Just click on the link to download or right click and save link as. You can use it easily. Just install it. KompoZer (Free): Its another free one with a bit of advanced features. A good one. Download, unzip and install. |

All of above are free. There are probably hundred of other free HTML editors which you can find by Googling. However we have listed only those that we have actually tested for their ease of use and functionality.
Now after getting an editor, we need to design our Site's pages, now for that, you can actually start it from scratch or else use already built sample pages known as web templates. Though latter option is advisable if you are new to designing. So below are the sources from where you can download absolutely free web templates to use: FreeWebSiteTemplates (Free - Recommended): This is one of the best resources for free yet most professional looking templates. Simple interface lets you preview templates before downloading. And the list is extensive. You can have a look at the themes that best suit your website. But remember, simple is better as well as easy to edit. |

Steve'sTemplates (Free): This is also an interesting source of good templates. USP of this Site is that it lists simple yet effective templates in case you are beginner.
Oswd (Free): It stands for Open Source Web Development. You can download all for free and in case you have some of your own designed templates, you can submit them here and share with the world. These are best resources for designing your first webpage. Now if we leave these HTML things alone, there is one more way to easily create your professional website and that is using CMS (Content Management System). This is an open source system that is used to publish your own content to web without desinging. Its a script that has everything predesigned, all you need to do is edit the content and customize the menus and features that you require. Its the easiest way to have a professional website without technical mumbo jumbo. There are two resources that are used mostly: Joomla (Free - Recommended): This is one of the most widely used CMS, though it will take time to understand it thoroughly but it has an intensive documentation and support forum if you need any kind of help. You can download it, upload it to a free web hosting that supports PHP and Mysql, then go to url by a browser and install, that simple. And apart from that, most of the free hosts already have this script on their servers ready to be installed. Just go to addons on most free hosts, select folder where you want to install it and click install and then input some information like your mail id, database details (available on your hosting control panel and you are done. After that, login ad an Admin and customize it from a web based easy to use control panel. Apart from that, it has lots of additional, free plugins that you can add to extend its functionality. Support information and documentation can be found Here. Mambo (Free): This is one of the oldest and reliable CMS around and free ofcourse. Its more or less same as Joomla except few things here and there. It is also a good substitute of HTML Site. Support information and documentation can be found Here. Apart from these two, other free CMS are also there but they are not that reliable as these two. So if you wish, you can always go for other ones though you might not find that much documentation and support if you are stuck somewhere. You might need free Logo for your Site, so we can provide you with free Logo services also, just contact us if you need tools for free logo creation or need us to create a free logo for you. We would be glad to help. Do you know about some better free Designing resources? Having trouble with anything? Need Help? We would love to hear from you, feel free to Contact Us. |
